Hi Werner,

I installed slapd via: apt install slapd

on my Debian 10 buster system.

I then run:

root at d10build:~# ldapadd
SASL/DIGEST-MD5 authentication started
Please enter your password:

So it immediately starts a SASL/DIGEST-MD5 bind, as expected.
