In Ubuntu, it returns both maintainers:
$ sed -ne 's/Maintainer:\s\+//p' debian/control
Ubuntu Developers <ubuntu-devel-discuss at lists.ubuntu.com>
XSBC-Original-Debian OpenLDAP Maintainers
<pkg-openldap-devel at lists.alioth.debian.org>


I suggest adding a ^:
$ sed -ne 's/^Maintainer:\s\+//p' debian/control
Ubuntu Developers <ubuntu-devel-discuss at lists.ubuntu.com>
