Hi,
Kurt, I managed to import the svn history into git and then I
initialized git dpm on top of it. I tried to push this to alioth for you
to take a look but failed and so it can be fetched from:
git://git.breakpoint.cc/bigeasy/openssl-debian.git
There is an `experimental' and `unstable' branch with git-dpm. Others
(such as the jessie_backports) may follow if you like it (which I hope).
So. If you checkout the unstable branch you will see the content of
trunk svn branch plus the unpacked tar file. In this branch you should
only edit the debian/ folder. If you need to edit upstream's source just
do
git dpm checkout-patched
and you land in the `patched-experimental' (assuming you were on the
experimental branch earlier) which has been newly created. Each commit
is a patch. You want drop a patch just drop that commit. Basic git
work. Once you done, do
git dpm update-patches
and you are back on `experimental' and debian/patches/ has been updated
created.
That is mostly it. You just need to be extra carefull when you have the
same version in two branches (say unstable + backports).
Sebastian
