I'd say so (with Release Team member hat on).
I agree with Colin, aligning this with cryptography upstream sounds like
a smart idea to avoid Debianisms that are going to hurt us in the long
run. For avoidance of doubt, I'm absolutely not against Debianisms, as
long as Debian believes they deliver improvements to our users, but they
always come with a cost.
