[Pkg-owncloud-maintainers] Bug#844937: owncloud-client at risk of not being in stretch [was Re: Bug#844937: fixed in owncloud-client 2.2.4+dfsg-2]

Dear owncloud-client maintainers,

owncloud-client is scheduled for removal from testing on 2016-12-21,
because #844937 is not yet fixed in testing. And since packages will
not be allowed to enter back testing after 2017-01-06, there is a
significant risk that owncloud-client will not be part of stretch,
which would be a disservice to our users.

The problem is that version 2.2.4+dfsg-2 (which has #844937 corrected)
failed to compile on mips* archs, and therefore cannot migrate to
testing. The root cause of this FTBFS is a nasty bug in binutils
(#844227 and its clones), so it is largely out of your control.

In order to avoid the removal of owncloud-client from testing, I
suggest to request the removal of owncloud-client binaries on mips
arches *in unstable* (hoping that ftpmasters will deal quickly enough
with the removal request). At least, that would allow non-mips users to
benefit from an owncloud-client package in stretch.

Are you ok with this solution? If yes, I can do the removal request if
you are too busy to do so.

Best,
