OC4 will be delivered as we know it from previous releases.
But we can still break the single tar ball up into several packages like core, files, contacts ...
This would give the user a greater choice in what to install.
On the other hand we can also decide to drop an app due to e.g. licence issues like openid - right?

I'd like to stick with owncloud as well
owncloud could be a virtual package, which pulls the core and set of apps - maybe the default enabled upstream 
apps like contacts, calendar, media, text editor and files viewers (image, pdf, odf).
Especially the user backends should be be installed by default.

On installation of an app - we can already enable it.

full ack on the client - but as stated before there is a long way to go.
One dependency csync was heavily patched and csync upstream did not yet accept all patches - afaik - and no official
release has been scheduled.
