Connecting to a postgres server fails with

can not connect to database, using pgsql. (SQLSTATE[08006] [7] FATAL: no
pg_hba.conf entry for host "10.231.231.249", user "password=", database
"owncloud", SSL on FATAL: no pg_hba.conf entry for host
"10.231.231.249", user "password=", database "owncloud", SSL off

please note the usage of "password=" as *USERNAME*.
Before that it tries to connect to the postgres database, which is not
allowed for the user (and should not be necessary).
