Yes this is my intention but not the only one. I'm new to debian 
packaging
but I think that with your help I could be productive soon enough.

Regarding squeeze I contacted Raphael Hertzog and he replied

"... So what you probably want is a normal backport targetting
"squeeze-backports" and the principle is the same as for wheezy (except
that squeeze-backports is still hosted on backports.debian.org) and
not on normal Debian mirrors."

So, I will let that off for the moment.
