Hi,
Looking at the dependencies of (binary) package of view3dscene (
https://packages.debian.org/sid/view3dscene ), I thought that maybe
some of the "suggested" packages can be removed from it.
This applies to packages
1. lazarus,
2. fpc,
3. fp-units-castle-game-engine,
4. castle-game-engine-doc
... that are currently suggested by view3dcene. Installing them is not
really useful to view3dscene users. These are only suggestions, but
they make useful suggestions of view3dscene, like "ffmpeg" and
"imagemagick" (that really enhance view3dscene functionality by
allowing it to read/write more formats) less visible. At the same
time, "ffmpeg" and "imagemagick" should stay in the "suggested" (not
"recommended") section, since most users will not really need them.
The idea is to show view3dscene as a generally-useful 3D model viewer.
If a developer is interested in making 3D games/tools like
view3dscene, then probably an existing mention in view3dscene
description about "Castle Game Engine" is enough:) I fear that having
current suggestions on FPC/Lazarus/CGE is not helping FPC/Lazarus/CGE
projects, instead it scares off potential view3dscene users.
What do you think?
Regards,
Michalis
