[Pkg-pascal-devel] help with glibc & fp-compiler bug in Ubuntu

Hi all,

Currently, fp-compiler is not installable on powerpc in Ubuntu¹. This is
due to an upgrade in glibc (version 2.23). Until now, nobody has figured
out why this is, or why a change in glibc would have such effects.

Does anybody here have a clue? Why is glibc needed during installation
of fp-compiler? What could go wrong and what is suspicious about powerpc
architecture?

Note, Ubuntu is now stuck at 3.0.0+dfsg-2 as it can't build the next
version.

In Debian we are not hit by this yet, but the next glibc is already in
experimental. I have no idea what the time line is for getting that into
unstable.

Paul
