Simplest way is in a clean (temporarily committed) source tree:
paul at testavoira ~/fpc $ quilt push -a
paul at testavoira ~/fpc $ sh debian/tests/run-upstream-testsuite

Restore the mess with:
paul at testavoira ~/fpc $ git clean -id
paul at testavoira ~/fpc $ git checkout .
