[Pkg-pascal-devel] fpc test suite and regression

Hi all,
I was just discussing some recent Ubuntu IRC discussions about fpc's
autopktgtest with Graham. Our autopkgtest had two regressions in Ubuntu,
one due to updated binutils and one due to update glibc.
The binutils/2.30-3ubuntu2 caused webtbs/tw0876 to fail on armhf, which
was already failing on amd64 and arm64, but passed in the past on armhf.
I don't know if this is further investigated, but in the end it was just
accepted (does this mean that there is a bug in fpc or that binutils
should not be blocked by fpc?).
Furthermore, with the glibc/2.27-0ubuntu2 update, we had failing tests
on amd64 and armhf because instead of segfaulting (past behavior) it now
refuses to compile. This adds the "Note: This test needs C libraries"
into the results of the regression test. While I accepted this extra
text because it didn't change the outcome of the failing test cases, the
discussion on the Ubuntu IRC mentioned a change¹ in glibc, that fpc may
need warning about.
Quote from IRC:
<mwhudson> slangasek: so it seems to me that it is slightly incompatible
in that glibc 2.27 now expects the compiler's crt0.o (or whatever it's
called) to define __dso_handle and fpc's doesn't
What do you think? @Abou, do you want to bring the glibc change upstream?
Paul
