I've subsequently installed all these packages on amd64 and made sure 
they all at least start up a GUI and open an About box, or similar.

Based on these result, I sync'd lazarus from Experimental in Ubuntu.

There is at least one autopkgtest failure in lazarus itself [1].

The following files failed unexpectedly:
/usr/lib/lazarus/2.0.0/components/lazdebuggers/lazdebugtestbase/lazdebugtestbase.lpk
