Have you also considered trying cross-building? fpc is supposed to
support that relatively well. Not that I have any experience on that
front; all my tries to (natively) bootstrap new architectures for fpc
have failed. I have spent quite some time to support the libc
"architecture" in fpc, to enable us to support all Debian architectures,
but without success (see for history bug #551400). I for myself will not
try again to bootstrap fpc on an architecture any time soon.
