Hello all,

Last week we have released a big new version of Castle Game Engine
(7.0-alpha.3).

- Release notes:
https://castle-engine.io/wp/2024/08/21/7-0-alpha-3-release-physics-blending-batching-shadows-delphi-packages-linux-ui-masks-lots-of-editor-ux-android-ios-work-float-textures-vs-code-sketchfab-more/

- Release notes with more details: https://castle-engine.io/release_7.0-alpha.3

- Downloads are linked from https://castle-engine.io/download , or you
can head on straight to GitHub:
https://github.com/castle-engine/castle-engine/releases/tag/v7.0-alpha.3
.

This week we released Castle Model Viewer (5.2.0):

- Release notes:
https://castle-engine.io/wp/2024/08/28/castle-model-viewer-release-5-2-0-updated-underlying-engine-better-shadow-maps-float-based-images-for-shaders-cycle-viewpoints-fixed-multi-viewport/

- Downloads are linked from
https://castle-engine.io/castle-model-viewer , or on GitHub:
https://github.com/castle-engine/castle-model-viewer/releases/tag/v5.2.0

- This version is based on CGE 7.0-alpha.3. So if you package CGE
7.0-alpha.3 in Debian, it can be used for Castle Model Viewer 5.2.0 in
Debian.

As mentioned in my email to this list "Castle Model Viewer (formerly
view3dscene) 5.0.0 release", note that

- "Castle Model Viewer" (or "castle-model-viewer" if you need an
internal/binary name) is a new name for "view3dscene".

- While we, upstream, develop and distribute both Castle Model Viewer
(GUI) and Castle Model Converter (command-line only) together (single
repo, single download), for Debian it probably makes more sense to
have 2 packages. The deps of Castle Model Converter are much smaller,
frankly it doesn't require anything :), it's just a command-line
utility that doesn't depend on any library to function.

As always, I'm happy to help with packaging as an upstream. If you
have any questions why something is like that, or how I would prefer
to have something available to users, let me know :)

Regards,
Michalis
