Yes that can be a solution, but do we really need to keep fpmake?

I understand, that's why I recommend to reduce the number of way to build it.
Maybe Delphi and Lazarus are enough. Then we can depend on lazbuild for building
CGE on Debian.

Yes, but the best test you can write is the one you don't have to write.
