Package looks ok to me too, will upload it now.
I removed the README.Debian, it did not contain anything useful.

You have to be in the Uploaders: Field if you are in the dbian/changelog (or else this will become a NMU).
Also, if you are in the Uploaders: field, the package will show up on http://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=nomeata@debian.org, which is very useful.
I'd say any member in our group can put himself in the Upload: fields of our packages if he wants to (he has to if he is in the changelog field)

Package seems to be OK, but i don't think you have to be in the Uploaders field in debian/control.
You could include your name/the DPG in debian/copyright (Something along the lines of "This package was maintained by FOO, it is now maintained by BAR)
