Still fails (wrapped for readability):

      && rmdir --ignore-fail-on-non-empty --parents \
          /tmp/buildd/libuuid-perl-0.02/debian/libuuid-perl/usr/share/perl5
  make: *** [install-stamp] Error 1

test && rmdir fails when the directory does not exist. It should be
! test || rmdir.
