It's safe.
In general I recommend against adding an override for a lintian bug.
Lintian will get fixed, and if you add an override, it's just one thing to
clean up later. However, I don't have an estimate for when Lintian will
be fixed (it will definitely be in the next release, but I haven't had a
lot of time and I don't know if the other maintainers will), so if the
noise in the report is bothersome, do feel free to add an override.
