Ilya, please give me some hint about how to reproduce the problem. 
I took a look in the code and can't figure out why the problem 
appears.

It might be related to some locales that use comma for decimal sign 
(i.e. de_DE), but the code path doesn't show any evidence that the 
float number is formatted twice.

Upstream wasn't particularly helpful either.
