biblatex and biber

Hi Danai, hi Hauke,

(Cc Perl Group as maintainer of biber)

I wanted to ask about your plans of biblatex/biber for the future.
It seems that wheezy will be released with completely outdated
versions of the two, but at least for after that it would be nice
to catch up quickly with the current level.

I have peeked a look at the biber package git (which btw, is a bit
broken ... debian/gbp.conf mentions as upstream branch "upstream/dev"
which does not exists ...), imported a new source of 1.4 biber,
fixed the patches (if needed, let me know), and tried to build
it, but without success. It seems that there are a lot of
unresolved deps:
  requires:
    !  Business::ISBN is not installed
    !  Business::ISMN is not installed
    !  Business::ISSN is not installed
    !  Data::Diver is not installed
    !  Mozilla::CA is not installed
    !  Text::BibTeX (0.64) is installed, but we need version >= 0.66
    !  Unicode::Collate (0.73) is installed, but we need version >= 0.90

I guess Mozilla::CA is not necessary, since it is patched away, and
Business::ISBN seems to be available (libbusiness-isbn-perl),
same for ISN libbusiness-issn-perl, but Business::ISMN I could not
find. Data::Diver I cannot locate either, and the other two need
updates.

Anyway, it would be nice if we could prepare experimental packages
that are ready for new releases at some point ...

Please let me know what your plans, involvement, etc are, thanks a lot.

Best wishes

Norbert
