Bug#694621: libgeo-coordinates-osgb-perl: move to main (and update d/copyright)

Package: libgeo-coordinates-osgb-perl
Version: 2.04-1
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-Cc: ftpmaster at ftp-master.debian.org

I think this means that this package can be moved to main now - a new
upload should also include an update to debian/copyright to incorporate
this statement (and possibly the others recorded in #664558) from the
rights holders of the data included in the package,

Hello Dominic

Thank you for your email regarding licensing for OSTN02 data.

Firstly I would like to apologies for the delay in responding to you.

I passed your enquiry to our Geodetic Team to view and they have confirmed that is what they would prefer. They appreciate what you are trying to do and think it is good but because OSTN02 has a very specific meaning then if the data is modified in a way that produces different results from our definitive implementation then it can no longer be called OSTN02.

I do hope you will find this helpful.

Kind regards

Neil.

Hi,

Sorry for the long gap since my previous correspondence on this issue.

I have one more request which might be a good compromise we're all happy with; would you be happy with stating that the data may be modified, but that if the result is changed it is no longer called 'OSTN02'?

This would allow us to fit this software package in with the Free Software Guidelines whilst retaining the assurance you are reasonably striving for.

I'm CCing this message to a public bugtracker; I would be grateful if you could include the CCes in your reply, and unless you specify otherwise I will assume that replies may be publicly distributed.

Thanks,

Dominic.
