I also sent a mail to the upstream for both mail-spf-perl and libnet-dns-
resolver-programmable-perl.  He's pretty busy, so I wouldn't hesitate to apply 
a working patch in Debian.  I find it unlikely there will be a quick resolution 
upstream.
