debian perl opengl freeglut3

Dear Debian Maintainers!

I would like to use the freeglut MultiTouch Functions from perl under 
debian, using opengl.

http://freeglut.sourceforge.net/docs/api.php

The debian libopengl-perl package shows that the freeglut3 package is in 
the dependency.

The debian freeglut3 package show the the real freeglut version is 
2.6.0-4.

My question is, what is needed to use the MultiTouch Functions? 
Update the freeglut3 package? Is this planned in the close future?

The actual sid freeglut3 page shows version 2.8.1-1:
