Unlikely -- since I use uxterm everywhere and in my two test cases it
was both times an uxterm from my Thinkpad. But IIRC I could also
reproduce it when being called from an uxterm of a Jessie machine.

Another guess could be locales: I have systems with C.UTF-8 as well as
some with en_XX.UTF-8 (with XX being either US, GB or DK).

The Thinkpad has LANG=C.UTF-8, the Xen DomU has LANG=en_US.UTF-8.
