Packaging tools does some variable expansion on control file.

Long description talks about which types of variables it handles, but
then a word seems to have "fallen out" - probably because syntax happens
to match the packaging syntax:

> Bourne shell, namely, in the form $NAME or .

Notice the missing word before final dot above?

Probably the dollar in that word needs a bactick to not get interpreted
by packaging tools.
