No, if gnucash is broken in stable, it should be fixed by an update
to stable. So the question is whether the new package, or parts of it,
are suitable for an s-p-u upload.

The changelog is a bit vague on this, as the recent entries don't
mention anything about Yahoo's service. Perhaps the OP can provide
clarification on what changes are strictly needed to restore functionality
so they can be considered for cherry-picking?
