I am able to reproduce this in a (freshly created) i386 sbuild chroot.
Not really sure what is going on, the upstream changes since 1.25
don't seem relevant.
Ah, trying 1.25-1 builds OK, but most of the tests aren't run, because
libfbembed is not found. The "detect Firebird API version even when
patch are supplied via environment" is relevant, because API version
30+ is used to check whether libfbclient2 can be used in embedded
mode.
So it seems the root bug was there with 1.25-1 too, just not triggered
because the embedded tests weren't run.
