Thanks for the patch!

I have
- applied it in git
- made a cosmetical change to make it more perl-ish (or
  Test::More-ish) [0]
- tested it lightly

I'd rather wait for the upload of OpenSSL 3.x.x to unstable, because
before that a full test is rather cumbersome (the skipped tests are
in a 3.x.x-only branch, and setting this up in an experimental chroot
would require a rebuild of perl-openssl-defaults first etc.).
