First of all, it's no problem if one import doesn't also include the
upstream commits, so you can just go ahead.

The easiest way to inlcude the upstream history is to just run

dpt-import orig

which is a wrapper around gbp-import-orig, adding the --upstream-vcs-tag=
option (after trying to add the upstream git repo as a remote).
