Actually its even more embarrassing: A patch for that is already in
Git, albeit a bit less elegant and maybe less performant:

But together with other commits. So what is in the default branch is
unsuitable for a freeze exception.

So any upload will likely come from a bookworm-specific branch and
maybe should be a 3.0.2.1 release instead of the prospective 3.0.3 in
the default branch.
