This boils down to
$ perl -MPOSIX=strftime -e 'strftime((bless {}, 'Foo'), localtime());'
Out of memory in perl:util:safesysmalloc
It regressed in 5.39.8 with
https://github.com/Perl/perl5/commit/1957c60d0591397316cff390fd9a8419e8bd09fb
and still happens on current upstream development branch (blead).
I'll report this upstream next.
