I didn't check what got implemented exactly (sorry I'm assuming wrongly 
or don't understand the problem), but I feel that a stricter dependency 
is only there to prevent the warning. I *think* the warning should be 
patched out instead and is a sign of the lack of proper SONAME bumping 
by upstream libxml. It's exactly that point that we'd like to see 
improved (e.g. by finding when the library breaks it's interface; or 
better, by upstream just being more aware of the problems). Working 
around that problem is probably more work in the end.

Although I recognize: pick your battles.
