I turns out that my patch doesn't really fix the issue; due to an 
error on my part it lead to the broken tests being skipped instead. 
So the package doesn't FTBFS anymore but the problems are only 
hidden.

Reopening the bug as this shouldn't go into testing in the current 
state.
