[Pkg-phototools-devel] Importing histories, epochs in tag names

Hi,
because of the way git-debimport (from gitpkg) works, I've had a look at
scripting what I had in mind for a git-debimport-like.
I've used it this way for gthumb:
$ # dget on .dsc's using snapshot.debian.net, put them under gthumb/
$ git-debimport.pl gthumb
$ git-branch -m unstable
What it does is mostly running zcat and filterdiff to extract debian/*,
and version it only (in contrary to tracking upstream & debian branches
in gitpkg), as well as storing the diff additional diff under a given
patch, also under debian/, which I hardcoded to debian/unclean.diff.
Since git doesn't like ':' in tag names, I selected '--' as replacement,
but I'd be glad to hear better ideas.
Since this is only the initial import, I guess we could just drop these
tags and replace them with what we'll come to — which is something that
is normally strongly recommended against (see “Discussion” in git-tag's
manpage).
AFAICT (but maybe someone will disagree?) David can start committing in
this repository, independently of the outcome of the discussion about
the solution we come to for the epoch-in-tag-name problem.
Cheers,
