Afaik Backports.org allows /addition/ of packages not available in
stable, the guideline is just the backported *version* should have
propagated to testing.

The only *weak* straw I can think of is uploading a svn-snapshot of
enblend 3.1 to unstable soonish, but keeping it out of testing manually
until it has seen enough testing that you might consider both the then
uploaded hugin and enblend snapshots ready for stable. Perhaps it might be
possible to get a release exception and get the packages into lenny
lately. (There is also the possibilty of a delayed release.) This has
the upside of having a working hugin+enblend combo in sid. It is
pretty weak straw, though.
