Hi,

if you run "/usr/lib/libgphoto2/print-camera-list hal-fdi" manually,
does it segfault as well?

If yes, can you install gdb and record a backtrace?

apt-get install gdb
gdb /usr/lib/libgphoto2/print-camera-list
then:
r hal-fdi
bt
