[Pkg-phototools-devel] Bug#610207: gphoto2: Error (-60: 'Could not lock the device')

In squeeze (testing)

plug in camera to USB port
Nautilus file manager window appears with contents of camera
$ gphoto2 --list-files

*** Error ***
An error occurred in the io-library ('Could not lock the device'): Camera is
already in use.
*** Error (-60: 'Could not lock the device') ***

A workaround is to use Nautilus to umount the camera file system before running
gphoto2, as follows.

plug camera in to USB port
Nautilus window appears: in left hand side window, unmount the camera volume
gphoto2 --list-files
(both gphoto2 and gtkam both seem to work OK)

Is there a better way, or is this workaround safe for a permanent solution?
