[Pkg-phototools-devel] Bug#655312: Crashes immediately when .hugin is present

(Resubmitting - I believe first attempt never made it off my system.)

Background: Had a squeeze system where hugin worked as epected.
Installed new version from squeeze backports - it crashes.

When hugin is started, it crashes with a segfault immediately.  (Within 
half a second, that is.  During that time, the logo can be briefly seen.  
The program window does not come up.)

This happens only when the file .hugin (left over from the previous 
version of hugin) is present.  If I remove the file, I can start hugin.  
If I copy it back, hugin will again segfault at startup.
The contents of the .hugin file are included below.

hugin gives the following output when crashing:

using "env LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 hugin" makes no difference.

I can still get hugin to crash later, but that seems more related to bug 
#638029.  I'll post more info there.

About the system: Intel Core i7 2600, using the integrated graphics.  No 
separate graphics board.
