Actually I don't think it's harsh. The package is clearly unmaintained
and already generating work for other developers (see Ana's mail in
#604368).
Anyway, I've prepared an NMU release with the latest 1.8.5 source code.
I need to look at it somewhat more (if you have an idea how to check the
packages, that would be cool).
