... or, since there seems to be some confusion about whether this is a 
public API or a private interface, maybe a better solution would be to 
install it into a private location (see the other bug I've opened on 
that topic), and call gi_repository_prepend_search_path() or 
g_irepository_prepend_search_path() to arrange for it to be findable.
