Yes, basically this is a fork. Since Uwe Steinman, the main developer
of LetoDMS (not employed by the company Trilex labs) has left the
project, the development was stopped.[1]
Although Trilex labs told me that they want to continue the development,
by now it seems that no progress.

Yes, probably it is more safe to create new packages, and in the future
remove the old ones if needed.
