I added a patch to fix this in branch wip/2.8.2-nocommon. I'll forward
it upstream as soon as possible.

Okay, great. I'll give you feedback to your previous mail later. But
this should not hold you back with your work on wip/2.8.2-nocommon or
uploading it to experimental.
