Done, wasn't that bad as I initially thought it would be. I commited the
updated check_image_licenses directly in master.

I updated the changelog so it mentions the removed patch (dropped in
commit c8add16eb9eab4c4cc093281e48e7c6887bba6aa) and pushed it to a new
branch "wip/2.8.3-dch-UPDATED". Fell free to use this one (it contains
everything from master) or simply update d/changelog manually in master.
The rest looks fine to me and build-time + as-installed test run just
fine on my local build setup. In my opinion you could upload it to
unstable anytime.
