[Pkg-postgresql-public] where is postgresql db on debian installation?

I've installed postgresql using the Debian package in Etch,
and gotten in working by using the Postgresql tutorial and
skipping the stuff that should be taken care of in a proper
Debian package (it was). But now I don't know where the
package allocated disk directories for the database, and
I can't find it using my limited search skills. Where is it?
