[Pkg-privacy-maintainers] FW: torbrowser-launcher in Debian: New release

Hi, Debian Privacy Tools Maintainers!

Before I go down a vicious NMU route for this, is anyone on the team able to assist with this as you are all listed as maintainers? If not, I'll happily go down the NMU + sponsoring route to get things fixed.

Worst case I'll prep an NMU and upload it to Mentors and then ask for a sponsorship request.

Note that I am willing to **adopt** this package entirely, if the current uploader (Roger, who is CC'd) doesn't have the time to put towards this package. I'm also happy to keep the privacy tools maintainers as maintainer but would love to help upload as a primary.

I am still fighting the keyring masters for my keys to get switched in keychain, but I'll take a look and see what I can do. Worst case I prep an NMU and have it sponsored.

Hello Thomas,

Since I did not get any reply from Roger yet, any chance you could help with this?

I have noticed that you offered help with the torbrowser-launcher package here:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=796295#50

Thanks!

Regards,
Daniel

Hi Roger,

We finally managed to solve the remaining problems and have tagged a new torbrowser-launcher version: https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/applications/torbrowser-launcher/-/tags/v0.3.7

This new version (among other changes) includes all fixes my previous Merge request did. It is important to update the Debian package.

There were some changes that may require minor adjustment of the Debian package:

1. The AppStream metadata file got renamed to a proper rDNS format: https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/applications/torbrowser-launcher/-/commit/34bdd4d0b1094c26d8a146f4ab57d26e01ac8807

2. Because of the recent AppArmor patches, one of your old downstream patches no longer applies cleanly. I have already solved this by updating the patch in my previous MR. Feel free to use my changes: https://salsa.debian.org/pkg-privacy-team/torbrowser-launcher/-/blob/69b790edbdec0592fd9dee906afb9c4e2e38e2cd/debian/patches/05-Remove-extra-override-for-X11-sockets.patch

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions or need any help with updating the Debian package.

Thanks!

Regards,
Daniel
