Control: severity -1 serious
As announced [1], we are trying to remove gtk2 from forky. Therefore,
I am raising the severity of this issue.
Pidgin 3 is currently in pre-alpha, but hopefully it will be ready in
time for Debian 14. More discussion about this is at
https://bugs.debian.org/883214
Pidgin and libpurple 3 is a major API break and everything that uses
it will need changes. Pidgin 3 uses GTK4. It's not possible for a
single process to use both GTK2 and GTK4 simultaneously so work to
port away from GTK2 is needed also.
These pidgin plugins are unlikely to be included in Debian 14 unless
someone ports them to work with the new version of pidgin.
