Hi all,
the new gui_tests branch in the MAT repo on Alioth now contains an autopkgtest I added for the MAT graphical interface. The implemented test cases try to stick to what is described in upstream’s TESTING file, mostly
- whether the GUI starts up with no messages on stderr
- whether the GUI actually cleans files (reusing the test file set from the existing tests)
- whether unsupported files are handled as intended in cleaned archives
- whether the status bar displays the messages set in the GUI code
I have noticed a few strange things in the MAT GUI, see also my upstream tickets [1,2]. There might also be some aspects of the GUI that I was a bit confused about — e.g. why one can check a yes/no option about whether to keep unsupported files in an archive if the dialog asking me which files to keep appears regardless of that option? I’m currently testing the behaviour as I _think_ it was supposed to be but can change it if there are any modifications to the UI in the future.
The test suite currently passes in my container (adt-virt-lxc), it couldn’t hurt to try on other testbeds too. Anyway, I would be happy to receive some feedback :)
Thanks,
Sascha
