Help needed for proftpd?

Hi list,

Note: I'm not a DD.

I recently started using OMV[1] on one of my systems. This software 
package pulls in proftpd, hence I had a closer look at it. I noticed 
that the are a few bugs on it and on some modules of it. Hence I decided 
to subscribe to the maintainers list. I'm reading this list for a few 
weeks now...just to notice that I didn't see any response from a 
maintainer during that time.
Meanwhile the package it marked for auto-removal from testing due to a 
bug having a patch.

Is there a reason, why there is no activity? Anything I can do to 
improve the situation? Again: I'm not a DD, I can't do any uploads.
