OK, lets try to figure this out. Could you please describe in more
detail what you mean by latency? This is not really what was on the
initial bug report (which was an error message).

Things to know: does this happen in other media players? does it
happen if vlc is output directly to alsa?

Also, please attach the logs from pulseaudio -vvvv [1] and vlc -vvv,
both run under annotate-output (from the devscripts package), and note
the time when the latency appears (this is to help parsing the logs).

[1] you need to kill the pulseaudio daemon before running this:
pulseaudio --kill ; annotate-output pulseaudio -vvvv

This suggest that by latency you mean that audio/video sync is lost?

I'm beggining to suspect a vlc bug (maybe related to 735447?), but not sure yet.
